ABOUT US

I take this great opportunity to express my view about the Centre for Peace Studies that this centre fulfilling my dream success by its grassroots activities. In my knowledge, Sri Lanka has been caught up with armed conflict, insurrection, counter-insurgency wars, and their destructive consequences through the past three decades.

I started this organization in 2004 as an independent, non violent, social change, nonprofit public organization. It is working with nonviolently social change organizations, committed to peace and justice issues in Sri Lanka to bring people and communities together to create a peaceful nation to our future generation. The Centre is preparing a solution where people of the region can live with dignity and honour. At the same time the centre firmly believe that the only way to solve this problem is that the people shall feel as Sri Lankan rather than behaving like Tamils, Muslims or Sinhalese.

The Centre is committed to true human security through equitably redistributing resources and challenging all forms of oppressions. Now the Centre for Peace Studies has been at the forefront of developing new ideas about Conflict Resolution, Mediation, Peace keeping, Human Security and Peace Building in Sri Lanka. The Centre is committed to foster, develop and infuse community based conflict resolutions skills for individuals, communities and organizations from the grass root level. The centre has developed an international reputation for the practical application of these ideas in war and zones and communities driven by conflicts, most notably in Sri Lanka. For the first time in the history of Tamil Language, the Centre introduced the Diploma program in Peace and Conflict resolution in the eastern Sri Lanka. The CPS promoted community - based efforts towards creating systematic change for social justice. We value transparent decision - making process as an aspect of non violence. Further CPS is anticipating the assistance of all learned man in this field, which assists to build a peaceful nation.
