As part of the Rural Industry Development program of the
Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) selected the CPS
to implement their livelihood activities through training.
Grand aid and JICA project team assisted
to the CPS to start livelihood by capacity building of the
organization, activity support and skill training.
The CPS made the beginning of Income
generation through utilization of existing local natural
resources such as;
01.
Utilization of a large amount water – Hyacinth to create water –
Hyacinth products
02.
Utilization of coconut palm plantation to create coconut fiber
products
03.
Utilization of fishery by products to create fish’s scale art
products.
Objective of the project
01.
to verify the community co-assistance to improve the livelihood
by activating and developing local industry using locally
existing natural resources
02.
to promote the livelihood rehabilitation by community
empowerment and through coordination with local government
organizations assistance.
Project formation activities
01.
Formulation of activity group from the CPS
02.
Selection of target products using local materials; and
03.
trial production and pre- marketing
CPS formed the group were formulated in the
three areas of the products for activating local industry was
made on the basis of the following principals
01.
to use of unexploited resources
02.
to produce value – added handicrafts
03.
to apply simple skills with the least investment.
In parallel with the production activity,
efforts have been made by the JICA to present us to various
exhibitions sponsored by RADA, MOHC and other related
organizations for verifying marketability and sounding future
distribution channel. We displayed our products in the following
exhibitions;

Training
The JICA provided training in production
and purchased our products for 100,000 rupees.
Further, JICA supported to find some local
government organizations to the continues support in training
and purchasing of our products;
